Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 1, 2026 · Carplo · Texas, USA
Carplo ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Carplo app and website at carplo.com.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Your name, email address, and Google account ID when you sign in with Google.
- Phone number: If you choose to enable SMS notifications, we collect your mobile phone number.
- Children's names: We collect the first and last names of children you add to the app. This is necessary to match children to rosters and schedules from activity providers. We do not collect dates of birth or any other personal information about children.
- Activity and schedule data: Sports, activities, practice schedules, game schedules, and carpool commitments you enter into the app.
- Usage data: Information about how you use the app, including login events, button clicks, and feature usage, to help us improve the product.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Carplo service
- Send SMS and email notifications related to carpool scheduling and changes
- Generate shareable schedule links and calendar feeds for family members
- Enforce subscription tier limits and manage your account
- Improve and develop new features for the app
- Comply with legal obligations
3. SMS Notifications
If you provide your phone number and opt in to SMS notifications, you agree to receive transactional text messages from Carplo related to carpool scheduling — for example, alerts when a pickup or dropoff commitment changes. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or by removing your phone number in your account settings.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With other parents in your carpool group: Your first name and carpool commitments are visible to other parents in a season you've joined via a shared link.
- With service providers: We use trusted third-party services including Amazon Web Services (cloud infrastructure), Twilio (SMS delivery), and Google (authentication). These providers only process data on our behalf.
- For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Children's Privacy
Carplo is designed for use by parents and guardians, not children. We collect first and last names for children added to the app in order to match them to activity rosters and schedules. We do not collect dates of birth or any other sensitive personal information about minors. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@carplo.com.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will deactivate your data within 30 days. Some data may be retained in anonymized form for analytics purposes.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and store credentials securely using AWS Secrets Manager. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by a notice in the app. Your continued use of Carplo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
